LingClip

Privacy policy

Last updated August 26, 2026

This policy explains what LingClip collects when you use the website, why we collect it, and the choices you have. LingClip is a language-learning product: you paste or search a YouTube video, then practice with transcripts, quizzes, flashcards, and playlists.

Information you give us

If you create an account, we store the details you submit:

  • Full name, email address, birthday, and place of birth
  • A hashed password (we do not store your password in plain text)

Signed-in use can also save learning data on our servers, including playlists, flashcards, likes, comments, quiz tickets, and related progress.

Information we collect automatically

  • YouTube video IDs, titles, and transcripts needed to run a lesson you open
  • Practice activity such as quiz results, watch history, and feed preferences
  • Device data stored in your browser, including theme, language, local progress, sticky notes, and similar settings
  • Technical logs needed to operate and debug the service, such as request errors

How we use information

We use this information to:

  • Provide lessons, transcripts, quizzes, flashcards, and playlists
  • Keep your account and library available across devices when you are signed in
  • Personalize feeds such as recently practiced videos
  • Keep the product secure and working

We do not sell your personal information.

Public content

Playlists you create are public and can be opened by anyone with the link. Public flashcard decks you publish can also be viewed by others. Do not put private personal data in titles, descriptions, comments, or cards.

Third-party services

LingClip relies on other services to run:

  • YouTube, for video playback and captions that you ask us to load
  • Pexels, when you search for playlist cover images
  • Hosting, database, and related infrastructure providers that store and serve the app

Those providers process data under their own privacy policies.

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and local or session storage for sign-in, theme, language, progress, and similar product features. You can clear browser storage or sign out at any time. Blocking storage may break sign-in or saved progress.

Your choices

  • You can use many lesson features without an account. Guest progress stays on this device.
  • You can sign out from the account menu when you are signed in.
  • You can delete playlists, flashcards, comments, and other content you added.

Children

LingClip is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy as the product changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do.
